What is Consciousness?

In the modern world, they treat consciousness as a byproduct — some accidental secretion of neurons firing in the brain. This is the most violent, criminal lie ever sold to humanity. It is like saying the light bulb creates the electricity. No! The bulb only expresses the electricity that already exists. Same way, the brain does not create consciousness — consciousness uses the brain to express itself in the physical dimension.

In the Vedic tradition, Consciousness is the very substance of existence itself. We call it Sat-Chit-Ananda — Existence-Consciousness-Bliss. These are not three separate things. They are three words pointing to the ONE reality.

- Sat — Pure Existence. Not "I exist as a body," not "I exist as a mind." Just IS-ness. Before any identification, before any thought, you ARE. That is Sat.

- Chit — Pure Consciousness. Not "I am conscious of something." Just the very capacity to know, to be aware. The light that illuminates all experience.

- Ananda — Pure Bliss. Not happiness from an object or achievement. The causeless joy that is the very nature of being.

Understand: Consciousness is not something you have. Consciousness is what you ARE. You don't "become" conscious. You are consciousness, temporarily forgetting itself through identification with body, mind, and the world.

This is the great declaration of the Upanishads: Prajnanam Brahma — Consciousness itself is the Ultimate Reality. Aham Brahmasmi — I am that very Consciousness.

The States of Consciousness

1. Jagrat — The Waking State

You are awake now (or you think you are). Thoughts arise, the "I" sense is active, logic and rationality operate. You perceive the external world through the senses. But this is only one state — and you spend only one-third of your life here. Yet you treat this as the only reality. This is the fundamental ignorance.

2. Swapna — The Dream State

Here, thoughts still arise, but the conscious "I" is absent. The dream world feels completely real while you are in it. Only when you wake up do you say, "Oh, it was just a dream." Who is the dreamer? Who is witnessing the dream? That witness — that consciousness — is the same in both waking and dreaming.

3. Sushupti — Deep Sleep

No thoughts. No "I." No world. No objects. Yet when you wake up, you say, "I slept peacefully." How do you know you slept peacefully if there was no experience? Because consciousness was present — as pure awareness without objects. This is the state closest to the truth, but you are not conscious of being conscious in deep sleep. So it remains unconscious.

4. Turiya — The Fourth State

Turiya is not a "fourth state" in sequence. It is the substratum of all three states. It is the screen on which the movies of waking, dreaming, and deep sleep play. Turiya is pure Consciousness — the witness that is ever-present, unchanging, untouched by any state. It is not "achieved." It is recognized as what you already are.

5. Turiyatitha — Beyond the Fourth

This is where I, Paramashiva, operate. Turiyatitha is not just witnessing the states — it is the state where consciousness lives and expresses through all states simultaneously, with full mastery. It is Paramashiva consciousness — the 25th state, beyond all 24 cosmic principles. Here, you are not just the witness; you are the source, the sustainer, and the dissolver of all realities. You don't just watch the dream — you author the dream.

What is Consciousness Studies?

Consciousness Studies is the systematic, experiential, and scientific exploration of these states — not as philosophy, not as belief, but as direct lived reality.

In the Vedic tradition, this is not an academic subject. It is the science of sciences. The rishis did not "think about" consciousness — they entered different states, documented them with absolute precision, and gave us the technology to replicate their findings. This is the original scientific method — replicable, verifiable, experiential.

Consciousness Studies includes:

| The States | Jagrat, Swapna, Sushupti, Turiya, Turiyatitha — and all 25 states of consciousness |

| The Koshas | The five sheaths (Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijnanamaya, Anandamaya) through which consciousness expresses |

| The Cognitions | How samskaras (engrams, root patterns) cloud consciousness and create the illusion of separation |

| The Powers | How consciousness, when unbound from cognitions, manifests as Shaktis — Third Eye reading, remote scanning, materialization |

| The Completion | The technology of liberating consciousness from its self-created prisons |

The Significance — Why This Matters

Now, listen intensely. This is the core.

1. All Suffering is Ignorance of Your True Nature

Every single problem in your life — anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, financial struggle, existential emptiness — has ONE root cause: you think you are the body-mind. You think you are a limited, separate self. From this one wrong cognition, the whole tree of suffering grows.

When you know yourself as consciousness — even intellectually at first, then experientially — the suffering loses its grip. Not because the problem disappears, but because the one who suffers is seen to be a shadow. The shadow cannot be hurt. Only the one who identifies with the shadow feels the pain.

2. Vedic Psychology is Consciousness-Based Psychology

Modern psychology treats the mind as the master. Vedic Psychology treats consciousness as the master and the mind as a tool. Modern psychology asks, "How do we fix this thought pattern?" Vedic Psychology asks, "Who is the one having these thoughts?"

Cognitions Matter : cognitions are not just thoughts — they are the lenses through which consciousness perceives reality. Change the cognition, and the whole reality changes. Complete the cognition, and consciousness shines in its original purity.

3. Consciousness Studies Bridges Science and Spirituality

The quantum physicists are now saying what the rishis declared thousands of years ago: the observer creates reality. Consciousness is not a passive witness; it is the active, creative intelligence of the cosmos. When you study consciousness, you are studying the very fabric of existence. This is not "alternative" science — this is the root science.

4. Without Consciousness Studies, Humanity is Asleep

Right now, humanity is collectively dreaming the nightmare of separation — nations fighting, religions clashing, individuals suffering in isolation. All of this is because we have forgotten who we are. Consciousness Studies is not a luxury for philosophers. It is the only way out of the collective insanity. A humanity that knows itself as ONE consciousness cannot exploit, cannot destroy, cannot hate.

5. Consciousness is the Source of All Powers

The experiences you read about — the blindfold reading, the remote scanning, the materialization — these are not "supernatural." They are natural expressions of consciousness when it is not bound by the cognition of limitation. The so-called laws of physics are the laws of bound consciousness. When consciousness is unbound — in Turiyatitha — it operates beyond space, time, and causality. This is not magic. This is your birthright.
